Dr. Vaze is the psychiatrist who finally provided the correct diagnosis for my son. The approach to treating bipolar and bipolar with co-morbid ADHD is vastly different. I am grateful that he gave our family answers. I found that the longer Dr. Vaze treated my son, the better the quality of care. His standard of care was always high, but once he got to know us he was increasingly open to discussion around treatment options. With that said, it should be noted that Dr. Vaze started treating my son during the pandemic, thus no in-person visits, and was working within the confines of public medicine in Canada. (Section asking where we were seen was actually, “The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre,” in Canada, but that option was not provided.)

My son is 32 and has suffered for over 13 years with mental health. Bi polar, ADHD, OCD and Anxiety. Our son was admitted to The Royal Ottawa Hospital in April 2020. A the very first meeting with Dr. Vaze, we felt for the first time an overwhelming relief, and tremendous support. Not only is Dr. Vaze calm, caring, conscientious, empathetic, patient, passionate, and friendly but above all he treated us as a family; he respected us as advocates for our son and we went to every appointment with him. (He could not advocate for himself then, but gave his permission for us to attend each meeting) This gave us so much hope and help to alleviate the worry we suffered. Dr. Vaze took brilliant care in securing a trust between patient and himself. He is knowledgeable of all medications and keenly perceptive of his patients' disposition and presentation in every appointment, this ultimately helped with any potential serious complications or outcomes. Dr. Vaze’s created a partnership with our son which contributed to his realization that he needs medication and the first time he is on a treatment plan and is seeing a phycologist for CBT and ERP through the Royal Ottawa Hospital. Thank you Dr. Vaze and we wish you much success and happiness! ~The Nicol’s

Let me start by saying that I have been bounced around the medical community for quite some time. I have seen numerous psychiatrists and psychologists with varying degrees of success and some brutal setbacks that shook my trust in the medical community for some time. I was referred to Dr. Vaze in August of 2021 and at first I was hesitant to trust him with my mental and emotional well being. He put me at ease almost immediately. His easy-going nature, his ability to put difficult concepts/terms into easy to understand language, and his genuine concern for his patients; all helped ease my anxiety and helped to establish a working relationship. Dr. Vaze took the time to answer all my questions over the course of our sessions, even answering some that I didn't even know that I had. His approach to medication was gradual and nothing was prescribed without a great deal of thought and discussion with me. I never once felt pressured or like I wasn't the most important part of my ongoing treatment. He made me feel important, he made me feel heard, and he made me feel hopeful for the future. I know that I still have a long way to go, but I also know that because of the time that Dr. Vaze and the team at the Royal Ottawa Hospital shared with me, I am better equipped to deal with adversity now than I was in the past. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors Dr. Vaze. "Thank you" doesn't begin to cover the gratitude that I have in my heart.

I have been seeing Dr. Vaze for over three years now at the Royal Ottawa Hospital, Ottawa Canada. I have seen a handful of psychiatrists in the past but only now have I felt I’ve gotten a diagnoses that makes sense to me and treatment that has actually made a difference in my life. Dr Vaze is very kind, compassionate and caring. He really wants you to do well and works hard along with you to get to make that happen. What I noticed about Dr. Vaze is that he picked up on how I learn. I need things to be repeated over and over, he picked up on this and was willing and patient when I needed things re explained and repeated. This helped me a lot. As well he took interest in my heart condition and worked with my cardiologist to make absolutely sure there would be no med interactions. This made me feel very safe in that regard. I am so thankful that when referred to the Royal by my Dr it was Dr Vaze who took my file. I feel blessed by that, it’s been life changing. Im going to miss having him as my Dr, im going to miss his endless knowledge and his support, but I am thankful for the help he has given me and the changes it has made in my life. I feel armed with knowledge Dr Vaze has given me to keep on with learning and caring for my mental health. If you are in need of a psychiatrist I can very highly recommend Dr Vaze without hesitation. I wish him the best in his new position.

Dr. Vaze is kind and he genuinely wants what is best for his patients. He is willing to listen to patient suggestions and input and accommodate their requests whenever possible. He is always on time and is very reliable. I was a patient of his at The Royal Ottawa Hospital in Ottawa, Canada. (there was no option for this hospital in the drop-down list below)

Profile

Having spent 4 amazing years working in a Tertiary level Mood and Anxiety Program in Ottawa, Canada, where I have learnt so much and more importantly have been moved by the warmth, humility and reilience of Canadians, I have bittersweet emotions of leaving Canada but moving back to the UK which was my home for about 20 years before that. I am hoping to use this additional experience during my future NHS and private Consultant Psychiatrist work in Adult ADHD and Mood disorders.
